Ian J. Norris, CIC

Ian Norris, CIC is Managing Director of Fortun Insurance's Fort Lauderdale offices.

A lifelong South Florida resident, he began his insurance career in 1990 while still enrolled in college. He eventually rose to become an executive/shareholder with two Business Insurance ‘Top 100' brokerage firms and subsequently founded Sabal Insurance Group, Inc. in 2005.

Sabal experienced a great deal of success, growing to handle thousands of clients across the United States, Latin America and Western Europe. Mr. Norris served as a Board Member of Associated Home Health Industries of Florida (‘AHHIF') (precursor to the Home Care Association of Florida) and on numerous professional advisory boards both inside and outside the insurance industry.

In 2023, Sabal was acquired by Fortun Insurance, a portfolio company of Vantage Insurance Partners in a transaction which significantly expanded Fortun's footprint in South Florida and established a Fort Lauderdale presence for the firm. The Fortun partnership also grew the market access and carrier roster for Sabal and greatly enhances the firm's product offerings for its clientele. The operating team at Sabal transitioned to Fortun and Mr. Norris assumed the role of Managing Director of Fortun's Fort Lauderdale Division.

Fortun provides insurance for commercial property, general and professional liability, workers' compensation, and auto/truck fleets.
